Participation Guidelines

Dear Saint:

“Obey them that have the rule over you and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.” (Hebrews 13:17) As your watchman on the wall, knowing that God is holding me accountable, I ask for you to follow these simple platform guidelines.

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Guidelines

Realizing that it is a privilege to be in the work of God, we understand that our lives must be above reproach and an example to others. With these scriptures in mind, I agree to uphold the doctrine, standards, and teaching of the Word of God. The list below serves as a guideline to adhere to: ALL: Fully committed to daily prayer Faithful in church attendance Consistent in tithing and offering In agreement with the church’s guidelines on separation from the world regarding modesty in dress, jewelry, tanning beds, and television/Hollywood entertainment Refrain from chewing gum on platform Men: Clean shaven Please maintain a haircut that includes a neat trim (off the collar and ears) and no long bangs or extended sideburns. Hair must be combed off of the forehead. No extreme, immoderate, or other styles inappropriate for a Christian Sleeves worn below the elbow Dressed appropriately with both a jacket and a tie when on the platform Avoid pants that are too fitted Metal tie clips or metal cufflinks should not be worn on the platform No wedding bands Women: Dresses and skirts should fall around three inches below the knee when standing or sitting and be without splits Sleeves worn below the elbow Clothing should be modest, not form-fitting or revealing Clothing should not be see-through or sheer without wearing a layering item under it Clothing and hair accessories should not be excessively flashy No jewelry or wedding bands Your hair (your glory) should remain uncut Face should be adorned with the beauty of holiness rather than any type of make-up (clear or color) Hats should only be worn on special occasions (Christmas, Easter, etc.) Spaghetti strap dresses (even with a blouse under) should not be worn Patterned hosiery should not be worn; this includes fishnet stockings, florals, stripes, etc. No overly shiny nails/toenails using polish, hardener, or over buffing The entire point of church platform guidelines is to keep the focus off of ourselves and put everyone’s focus solely on the Lord! ** Due to the height of the platform, those worshipping around the front look up at an angle. For this reason, we are asking those who serve on the platform to be an example and go beyond our normal standards.

All Church Representatives must abide by the following guidelines

• I promise to be a good and Godly example. • I will be committed to living for God and to the ministerial goals and objectives of the First Pentecostal Church. • I will stay renewed in the Holy Ghost. • I will dress according to the FPC guidelines and standards at home, on vacation, or wherever I am. • I will cooperate with and respect all Staff and all Leaders of the church. • I will keep an earnest prayer life. • I will strive to have EXCELLENT spirit at all times. • I will neither have a haughty spirit nor portray undo self-importance. • I will show respect for all mankind. • I will not live immorally but will be clean and holy. • I will be mindful of my presence on social media and will not post anything that may be inflammatory or cause dissention. • I will not look at or visit pornographic materials/websites or any websites that are not pleasing to God. • I will not listen to music that is not pleasing to the Lord. • I will not go to places of worldly amusement, which do not have a wholesome atmosphere. • I will not attend or watch Hollywood movies on the internet, videos, DVDs, mobile devices, or TV at home or elsewhere. • I will be careful about the kind of books I read. • I will not go to public sports events or dances. • I will only swim with members of the same sex, unless it’s with family members. I understand serving as a Church Representative is both a privilege and a high-profile position in the church. If I choose not to follow these guidelines consistently or am not living right, I promise to remove myself until I have recommitted my life to God, and/or understand that the pastoral leadership has the authority to remove me. I am encouraged to meet with my Pastor regarding my decision. I know no one would want to be a stumbling block to a brother or sister. Paul loved the harmony of the church so much that he said, “Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.” (I Corinthians 8:13) To be in this position we ask that you be cautious about speaking your opinion about things that are not important (i.e. fishing, hunting, politics). Joking and making foolish jabs in a group of your peers maybe hurtful to your brother even though you may be unaware of the damage it caused. All of your friends and family should have a good feeling about you when they see you on the platform! No one but you knows your heart. If you have unrepented sin in your life (if you were seen at an ungodly event, or dressed inappropriately), you should take yourself off the platform and it would only be right for you to sit out for a season, lest you become a stumbling block for your brother or sister in the Lord. What an honor we all have to stand on the platform before so many saints! For this reason, we are asking every person who serves on the platform to be a Godly example.
